I always check out the nightspots around the Idroscalo. This is the season for Milano Food Week and I also recommend La Milanesiana, a culture fest featuring writers, musicians and artists, www.ciaomilano.it

FRIENDS Revolver

Piazzale Cantore 3 This cool twentysomething joint near the navigli has just changed its name from Vavavoom.

Ringhiera

Ripa di Porta Ticinese 5, +39 02 839 3902 A good value port of call in the navigli, here you can eat a complete meal for the price of a cocktail as the buffet never stops.

INSIDER TIP

Milan’s secret? People don’t shop in the fashion district, but in Corso Buenos Aires, the biggest shopping street, from Porta Venezia to Loreto, on the red metro line.
