SNAPSHOT

There will be no shortage of activity in Lviv this summer. Highlights include an open air theatre festival and a series of ethno-fests celebrating Ukrainian folk tradition

FROM AIRPORT TO CITY

Public transport from Lviv airport is erratic so hop in a taxi – try not to pay more than 60 hryvnia (€5) for a ride into the city centre.

Praha Café

8 Gnatyuk Street, +38 032 2260 2442, www.praga.lviv.ua This elegant fin de siècle tribute venue harks back to the days when Lviv was a regional Habsburg capital and one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe.

FRIENDS

Leopolis Coffee Inn

9 Kryva Lypa Street, +38 050 370 2318 You cannot visit Lviv without indulging yourself with some of the famed local coffee, and this venue offers an additional old school feel with brews for 10 hryvnia (€0.8).

Mi100

7 Naukova Street, +38 032 244 7196 This entertainment complex is a good place to start an evening out and also plays host to the naughty but nice Nosorog strip club, which remains a popular haunt throughout the night.

INSIDER TIP

You can escape the city heat by heading out of town to one of the many lakes which dot the rural hinterland, such as Brukhovychi.
