STAR MUM MOVES IN
Bucharest’s flourishing property market is starting to attract A-list clientele. Well, their mothers, at least. Leslie Hawke, whose son Ethan has starred in such films as Gattaca, Training Day and Before Sunset, is a new resident of the city’s main thoroughfare, Calea Victoria, reports The New York Times. She refers to the street as “Bucharest’s Fifth Avenue” and is said to love the city’s “sense of proximity”. She talks to Wizzit on page 62.

An average property costs €54,570, but an average wage of €1,884 means it takes Bulgarians 29 years to earn enough to buy – compared with just nine years in the UK.

The crescent-shaped neighbourhood will encompass 600 luxury homes and a 32-hectare public park. Apartments will start at around €500,000. PAUL OSWELL
